At the end of a quiet waterside cul-de-sac, with private off-road parking for one small- to medium-sized car, the ancient, stone-built, south-facing Derry's cottage was built as a granary some 400 years ago. It was converted to two cottages about 200 years ago and completely refurbished, rethatched and extended 12 years ago, with No 2 winning a prestigious architectural award.
The unmatched beauty of this Grade II listed building is very special to our village. It is cleverly arranged over 4 levels with large sitting room, conservatory and utility room on the ground floor. A curved staircase leading up to a spacious very well fitted and equipped kitchen and dining room in the thatched extension that is at right angles to the remainder of the all thatched cottage, with double doors onto a south facing patio with lovely waterside views of Newton Creek on the River Yealm.
One SMALL pet only.

3 DOUBLE BEDROOMS arranged thus: 4 stairs up from the kitchen area there is a double bedroom and shower room with WC etc. plus another smaller double bedroom. A further staircase leads up to a large double bedroom and family bathroom on the top floor. There are 3 double beds (one is 4'6"; one is Queen Size and one is King Size. There is a double sofa bed in the sitting room and another double sofa bed upstairs in the largest bedroom.
OUTDOORS a small lawn and garden plus 2 well appointed patios, one facing south and east outside the kitchen and an "afternoon" patio facing south and west, both with views of the River Yealm. At the very end of the cul-de-sac a short waterside footpath leads towards another road where there is parking. The gas central heating and electricity is included and bedding is supplied [duvets, mattress covers and pillows]. Bed linen is for hire, or you may prefer to bring your own. Please bring your own towels.
A slipway a few yards from the cottage gives access to the water where there is a dinghy [a small boat] with oars and an outboard motor that can be hired by arrangement at your own risk, for an extra charge. All the village shops and amenities are within a short walking distance.
The cottage is "baby friendly". There is a baby gate in the kitchen, blocking the stairs down to the lounge and the stairs up to the master double bedroom. There is also a fence around the patio, and a "roaming" babygate that can be used anywhere in the house.
