  ONE Pet only but not on the furniture please.   Non-smokers are preferred.

 The cottage is mid 18th century with very thick walls and original features still intact.

Gas and Electricity up to £20 a week, bed linen is included.  Towels are available to hire £9 per person per week.

Located waterside in Newton Ferrers, with a shared quay suitable for mooring a small dinghy, Myrtle cottage has 2 bedrooms, plus a double sofa bed. There is private parking for 2 cars behind the cottage at the top of the ‘upper’ back garden but legally there is no parking allowed along the very narrow road outside the front door, across from which is the front garden with a small lawn and a pretty summer chalet River Room [furnished].  The quay belongs to Myrtle.  The occupants of the cottage next door are allowed use of the quay for boat launching ONLY but for no other use [eg fishing].  

Gas central heating, hot water and electricity is included from Easter to the end of September but usage is limited to £20 per week.  It is checked every week by meter readings.  Excessive wasteful use is monitored and above £20 will be charged.  Meter Readings Records are available on request.

Downstairs a small modern cloakroom gives a total of 3 WCs. The kitchen (photos below) is modern and fully fitted with double wall oven/grill and stainless steel sealed hob; dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer [plus outdoor drying as well], refrigerator and a ‘fridge/freezer, and microwave. The stone walled sitting room has plenty of comfortable seating, the hearth contains a small electric Valor flame-effect 'woodstove' heater, large colour TV/remote with vcr, dvd and cd players. MAIN CORDLESS TELEPHONE.  The stone walled dining room has antique furnishings [eg large table, huge dresser etc] and a double sofa-bed for occasional use. DVDs are not supplied but can be hired locally [eg Yealmpton Village Store - which is open until 8pm except on Sundays when it is open until 12 noon].

 

Upstairs 2 bedrooms, each with a telephone extension.  Main bedroom has an antique original Jacobean carved 4 poster bed [modern new base and deep sprung but FIRM mattress], the second bedroom has twin beds, new divans and deep sprung mattresses. There are 2 bathrooms (clean bathmats supplied each week).  A second 'upstairs' back door leading out to the ‘middle’ back garden makes it easier for unloading luggage and this avoids unloading at the front door and then taking the car all the way back up around to the rear parking.  There is NO PARKING at the front of the cottage.   The rear gardens are terraced and have handrails as well. There is a ‘lower’ back garden outside the kitchen, suitable for a ‘disposable’ barbecue and the ‘upper’ back garden has marvellous estuary views, [the top back level has 2 parking spaces which are suitable for 2 ‘normal’ vehicles, accessed via a private narrow steep ‘back road’ dubbed 'The Ski Slope' by local residents].

 

The BEDDING for the beds: mattresses, mattress covers, pillows and duvets plus a spare bedspread if required,  all supplied as is the bed linen.   Please advise when booking, well in advance, but not on arrival, [which is too late] if you will need the linen for the double sofa-bed in the dining room as well.  

 

If required a Kitchen Inventory can be emailed.  A Set of 3 tea-towels is supplied each week.
